Education

Sales and Marketing Council of San Diego exists for the purpose of advancing the discipline of marketing and sales through education, mutual support for personal and professional growth, networking and providing a forum for the exchange of ideas. SMC continues to be an educational arm of the BIA, and regularly offers the following educational programs:

MIRM
The Institute of Residential Marketing (IRM) educational series is offered at UC Irvine, and provides state-of-the-art knowledge in residential marketing. Courses are offered on-campus in the Fall, Winter and Spring Quarters at UC Irvine through UC Irvine's prestigious Extension programs, and the courses need not be taken in sequential order . Industry experts generously donate personal time to guest lecture throughout the year, providing first-hand knowledge and expertise of the building industry, as it relates to residential sales and marketing. Members who complete all 4 quarters will additionally receive a University of California Certificate in "Marketing for the Residential Builder," and will have fulfilled the educational requirements for Membership in the NAHB's Institute of Residential Marketing (MIRM.) Additionally, all four IRM courses are approved for continuing education credits with the California Department of Real Estate, and may be applied toward real estate license renewal.

Certified New Home Sales Professional (CSP)
A nationally-recognized educational program for new-home sales representatives, the CSP curricula emphasizes each step of the sales process, stressing knowledge of the homebuilding process as well a sales skill-building. Also qualifying for California DRE continuing education credits, this program has proven its ability to help over 12,000 national graduates increase their income and become more productive in their careers. The course includes four full days of instruction, and is taught by respected sales and marketing managers drawn from our local region.

Advanced CSP--New Construction as a Selling Tool
Providing in-depth insight into the homebuilding process, this state-of-the-art program combines two days of classroom and field instruction, taught by a top construction expert, and is designed to equip salespeople with with the knowledge tools they need to really sell the benefits of a new home to their prospects. Advanced CSP offers graduates a competitive advantage in a marketplace that demands tangible knowledge and meaningful demonstration techniques.

Other Educational Offerings
SMC constantly offers hard-hitting and useful presentations at monthly dinner meetings and events, such as half-day sales seminars and an annual Marketing Seminar for its members and guests. Depend on SMC/SC to deliver timely and career-building information.
