LETTER FROM THE SMC 2008 PRESIDENT

To my fellow members of the San Diego Building Industry Association:

As I begin 2008 as the new president of the Sales and Marketing Council, I want to thank all our board members for stepping up and standing out!  Serving and leading is a huge commitment of time and talents and it is very much appreciated.

Like the fires that swept across our county, negativity and pessimism can sweep through our thoughts, attitudes and can leave us discouraged.   However, I firmly believe that the individuals who are involved on our board, people in real estate and the building industry are resilient, positive, confident and enthusiastic!  We may have a tough job ahead but we will succeed, make new friends, build relationships and have a good time along the way. 

At our planning meeting this past November our theme was SMC Survivor 2008 Challenge! To say this year will be ‘challenging’ is an understatement!  We need to dig in, hold onto one another and push forward.    More than ever, the SMC is dedicated to the education, motivation, and recognition of our membership.

At the SMC planning meeting each of the Board members were challenged with chairing a committee and participating on at least one other committee.  It is easier to complete a challenge if you have a group, or ‘tribe’, to divide and conquer tasks.  During this year, we need to help each other by working together and supporting one another.  I encourage you to join us on the SMC SURVIVOR 2008 Challenge!  Join the SMC, participate in a committee and get involved!  Check out our website at www.smcsd.com.

I Challenge every builder, every real estate company, every associate company to be a sponsor at some level and to support your sales and marketing staff who are your valuable team ‘tribal’ members on the front lines making things happen!

I Challenge every sales person, every sales manager to nominate yourself, your sales professionals and associates for our Quarterly Sales Awards and Awards of Excellence.  It is not all about the numbers - it is also about the attitude, and the drive!

I Challenge every sales person, every sales manager, every member to attend and invite others to attend classes and seminars to sharpen your skills, learn more, to continue to be the best and the top of your career!
